About

The Insider is a weekly community newspaper delivered Thursdays within Wayne and Garfield counties, which are situated in the south-central region of the state of Utah. We provide local news, feature stories, cultural information and advertising services within our coverage area, which includes our 20 rural communities, as well Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and portions of the Dixie and Fishlake National Forests.

Our region is characterized by handsome landscapes ranging from high forested plateaus to red-rock canyon country, and small rural towns dotted along the historic and picturesque highways of U.S. Highway 89, Utah Byway 12 and Utah Byway 24. Many of our local families go back several generations and are connected to the first pioneer settlers of the area. More recent migrants have been attracted by the quiet rural character of the region, the opportunity to be connected to the colorful southern Utah landscape, the life enhancements offered by living in small communities, and opportunities for outdoor recreation.

The Insider is produced both for and by the people in our communities. It serves as a hub of information and news for our towns, and as a marketplace for readers and advertisers to connect. Community members are encouraged to contribute their voices and content to the paper in the way of columns, articles, photos and opinions. Our newspaper offers advertising services including design and customized placement plans at affordable prices for local small businesses.

The newspaper is free to residents of Wayne and Garfield counties and is delivered by U.S. Mail to every permanent household within the counties, and has a circulation of 3,550.

Newspaper subscriptions are available outside of Wayne and Garfield counties for $75 per year (52 weeks), with senior discounts available ($60/year). Subscriptions are delivered weekly by first-class mail.

The Insider is a local, family-owned business and was founded in Wayne County in February 1994. During its first 17 years of operation the paper was located in Loa, Wayne County, Utah. In June of 2012 the newspaper changed hands and our operations are currently located in Escalante, in Garfield County, Utah.

Feel free to connect with us regarding submitting content, for advertising information, or with any questions about our services. We look forward to hearing from you.
