Edward Eckersley


ELMO/TEASDALE – Edward A. Eckersley, age 67, of Elmo, returned to his Heavenly Father on August 20, 2016 in Sandy, Utah. Edward was born January 6, 1949 in Panguitch, Utah. His parents are Lois Dutton Eckersley and the late Lyman W. Eckersley.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Eckersley of Elmo, a sister: Diana Eckersley of Oklahoma; two brothers: Delmer D. and Laurie Jo Eckersley of Salina; and Lyman Eckersley Jr. of Elmo; many nieces and nephews; his Uncle Lark and Aunt Georgia Flanigan of Cedar City; many other family members and his faithful dog, Pee Wee.

Ed was a Vietnam era Veteran. His work experiences included farming, cowboy, cheese maker, beekeeper, sheepherder, Volunteer worker and story Teller.

He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing when his health permitted it.

Edward was always willing to help others. He helped his mother and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers who gave him a certificate of excellence for his hard work. He belonged to the Volunteers of America Utah Chapter. He served as Chairman of the Volunteers of Emery County where he made many friends.
Edward enjoyed crocheting. He made many small hats and booties for infants and donated them to castle View Hospital and the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. He also crocheted many rugs and shared them with others. Ed was also very glad to teach others how to crochet.

Edward had many friends in Green River and looked forward to going to Melon Days each year. He always returned to Elmo with melons to share with others.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Teasdale Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard.
Burial will be in the Teasdale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
