Marjorie S. Davies
In Marjorie’s younger years she enjoyed rock hounding, horse races, long rides in the car with Cal and visiting with friends and family. Her greatest passion was helping other people. She always put others needs before her own. Marjorie and Cal volunteered many hours to various organizations helping other people. Marjorie and Cal were both awarded a certificate of commendation for volunteering for 12 years on the council on alcoholism and drug dependency from Los Angeles City, California. Marjorie was a major contributor in the beginning of the Garfield Memorial Hospital Thrift Store in Panguitch, Utah. She and some friends decided to have a community yard sale and donate the proceeds to Garfield Memorial Hospital. Over time there efforts increased and they were able to obtain a building on Main Street in Panguitch, Utah which is now the Thrift Store. This store now brings in 20-30 thousand dollars annually that goes to the Garfield Memorial Healthcare Foundation. Funds from this store help the local community by aiding in the purchase of new medical equipment needed to keep Garfield Memorial Hospital an advanced facility.

Marjorie never stopped wanting to help others out, and her compassion for others was her greatest quality. In her later years she enjoyed visiting with family and friends, talking on the phone and listening to her books. Marjorie and Cal never had any children of their own; however, their home was never empty. They cared for family and other children in need. Marjorie was known to most as having a great attitude, as being a lovely woman, as being very generous and never saying an unkind word. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Cal, her father and mother Earle and Mable Strickland and her brother and sister-in-law Wilbur and Kathy Strickland.
